The districts of Pattaya
A guide to Pattaya's districts: Beach Road and the central strip, Walking Street, Jomtien, Naklua, Pratamnak Hill, East Pattaya and the surrounding areas — and each one's character.
One name, many neighbourhoods
“Pattaya” in a headline could mean any of a dozen very different places. The geography shapes the story — here's the map that makes local news legible.

Why the map matters
- “In Pattaya” is vague: a story on Walking Street and one in East Pattaya describe almost different cities — the district is half the context;
- Development and property news is intensely district-specific — Jomtien's condo boom is a different story from Naklua's local-character debates (economy);
- The two registers (party and family) map loosely onto geography, though they overlap more than outsiders assume (the two Pattayas);
- Distances are shorter than the district names suggest: Pattaya is compact enough that most of these areas are a short songthaew or taxi ride apart — see getting around for how people actually move between them.
Beyond the city limits
Pattaya's districts eventually give way to the wider coast — Na Jomtien and Bang Saray to the south, Naklua and Wongamat blending north toward Sriracha and the container port at Laem Chabang. None of that is “Pattaya” in the administrative sense, but it's the same stretch of coast and the same daily commute for plenty of residents (the Eastern Seaboard).
